Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is a program for skilled professionals and graduate students to migrate and settle as permanent residents in Nova Scotia. There are several streams to immigrate through NSNP:
Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities- Candidates who meet the labour market requirements are selected to apply for Express Entry Nomination. Applicants can apply only after they receive the Letter of Interest from the Government. Candidates will be assessed on the basis of different factors like Age, Educational qualifications, Work experience, sufficient settlement funds.
Skilled Worker- This stream is to recruit foreign professionals and graduate students to work in Nova Scotia. The candidates will be hired as per the skill requirements in the job market. An employer will hire foreign skilled workers only if the requirements are not met by the Canadian citizens or PR. Eligible candidates must have a valid employment letter from Nova Scotia. Different assessment factors are Work experience, Age Education, Skill set, language proficiency, proof of enough funds.
Entrepreneur- Experienced business people who wish to migrate and reside in Nova Scotia can get through via this stream. The aspiring business people must start a business or buy an existing one and participate in its daily operations. The person has to run the business for at least a year, on the completion of which he/she will be nominated for PR.
International Graduate Entrepreneur- Students graduated recently from a community college or university in Nova Scotia can choose this stream. The minimum program length should be of 2 years. In order to be eligible for this stream, a candidate must have owned and operated a business in the province for a minimum of 1 year with at least 33.33% ownership. After the completion of an online Expression of Interest, eligible candidates will receive an invitation to apply from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration. Prior to the invite, they can apply for PR.
Physician- This stream is to oblige the public health authorities of Nova Scotia i.e. Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) and the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre (IWK). The stream helps these authorities to hire skilled practitioners and physicians for the positions that have not been employed by a Canadian PR or citizen.
Note- Candidates are selected on the basis of required skill set, work experience and occupations in demand depending on the labour market needs of the province. The eligibility criteria of the program are subject to change and depends entirely on the Immigration authorities of Nova Scotia.
Minimum score for eligibility- 67 out of 100 based on the selection factors.
Minimum 1 year of full time work experience or continuous part time paid work ex in the past 5 years OR equal amount of paid part time work experience in Canada in the past 3 years from the date of notifying interest in the Province or Territory.
Minimum CLB 7 in IELTS exam
Proof of sufficient funds if applied without an approved job offer.
